FRED HERSCHEL PRIEBE

Dr. Fred Herschel Priebe, 48, of Indianapolis, who practiced in Hillsboro from 1950 to 1958, died at 5:20 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 15, 1969) in the General Hospital here. Dr. Priebe had been director of the medical clinic and Rheumatology at the General Hospital and was an associate professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Born April 24, 1920, near Waveland, he was the son of Fred and Goldie Bayless Priebe. He was married, Nov. 20, 1941, to Mary Lou Smith, who survives. Dr. Priebe was a graduate of New Market High, Wabash College and University of Cincinnati Medical Schoool. He was a member of the Parkersburg Christian Church, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Nu Sigma Nu Medical Fraternity, American Rheumatology Association, State Medical Association, Hillsboro Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He also was a member of the board of the American Heart and Arthritis Association, Culver Hospital Board and a consultant at Hendrix County Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II. Other survivors include three sons, Steven of Indianapolis, Stanley in the Army and Kent at home; a daughter, Mrs. Phil Thompson of Indianapolis; his father and step mother of Ladoga Route 1; and a brother, Lincoln of Ladoga Route 1. He was preceded in death by mother. – jlr
